Tatanka is a Lakota word meaning “Big Beast”. For the Northern Plains People Tatanka meant “life”. For more, see the Story Of The Bison. Photo taken during the Legion Lake Fire after all the buffalo in the area migrated south to Wind Cave National Park, SD – December 2017.
